Course 18 Mathematics Major

The requirements ensure students get a foundation in all areas of mathematics, whether they plan to specialize in pure or applied fields. Students will graduate with a Bachelor’s of Science in Mathematics.

• Differential Equations: 18.03, 18.152, 18.303
• Linear Algebra: 18.06, 18.C06, 18.700, 18.701*
• Analysis: 18.100A, 18.100B, 18.100P, 18.100Q
• Probability and Statistics: 18.05, 18.600, 6.3700**
• Advanced Mathematical Subject: 18.330, 18.404, 18.410, 18.510, 18.701, 18.702, 18.703, 18.710, 18.781, 18.901, 18.950

*If 18.701 is used to fulfill the Linear Algebra requirement, another subject must be chosen to fulfill the Advanced Mathematical Subject requirement.

**Subject has prerequisites outside of the program.

Restricted Electives (6)

Six 12-unit subjects in Course 18 of essentially different content.

At most, 36 units can count towards the requirement of another major.

At least 7 classes in the overall program must be advanced subjects with the first decimal digit being 1 or higher (18.X where X>100 or X is 085, 090, C21 or C25).
