Creating a Course Website

The Department of Mathematics has multiple solutions for course websites:

Canvas is MIT's learning management platform. This is a robust, click-to-edit course system with Zoom integration, Piazza integration and Gradebook capabilities. Canvas sites are automatically created, and you should see your course when logged in at If you don't see your course, or have issues using Canvas, please contact .

MIT Mathematics Course Template

Faculty and instructors are free to use the Math Department Course Template within the department's course directory (/math/www/docs/classes/18.???/YYYYsemester/). Although not as robust as Canvas, this template is fully customizable for those with knowledge of HTML/web editing. Please contact if you'd like to set up this directory.

Faculty/Instructor Home Directory

Faculty and instructors are welcome to create their own website within their home directory (/math/home/your_username/www/). Instructions for editing can be found on the Math Website Creation Page. The Course Template Zip File is also available for download [Kerberos Required].
