UROP+ (Supervised UROP)

In the summer the Mathematics Department offers several UROP+ positions, which give MIT undergraduates an opportunity to work on a research project under the guidance of a graduate student mentor. UROP+ students will work full time for three months (June-August), meeting with their mentors individually for 1.5 hours twice a week (up to 50% of these discussions can be on skype, if you or he/she or both are away); the schedule can be adjusted to the student’s and the mentor’s schedules.

UROP+ students will be expected to produce a final 10-page paper, with an emphasis on either research or exposition, by the end of August; it could be individual or joint with the mentor. The paper then might be submitted to and a journal if it contains original results. See papers from previous years.

The deadline of March 10 has passed. Decisions will be made by the end of March.

UROP+ faculty advisors are Prof. David Jerison and Prof. Ankur Moitra
UROP+ Program Director Dr. Slava Gerovitch
