Alexander Postnikov

Bio

Alexander Postnikov received the M.S. in mathematics from Moscow State University in 1993, and the Ph.D. in applied mathematics from MIT in 1997, under the direction of Richard Stanley. He continued at MIT as an instructor in applied mathematics, followed by a Miller Research fellowship at U.C. Berkeley, 1999-01. He joined the department faculty in applied mathematics in 2001: associate professor by 2006, professor in 2014. Professor Postnikov's research interests are in enumerative and algebraic combinatorics. His distinctions include selection of MIT's Solomon Buchsbaum AT&T research fund, 2002, the Sloan fellowship, 2003, an NSF Career Award, 2005, and the Department's Edmund F. Kelly research award, 2006. In 2018, Postnikov will give an invited address at ICM 18 in Rio de Janeiro.
