Topic Building a Cost Effective Cloud Computing Architecture for Education and Research
Abstract: Interest in cloud computing has grown significantly over the past few years. This talk focuses on the design and implementation of a cloud computing system for a university environment including a live demonstration of this system. Operational data from this cloud computing installation that has been in production in North Carolina for the past 5 years will be presented showing how this architecture can serve both the educational and research missions of a university in a very economical and cost effective manner. A discussion of some of the challenges and opportunities of expanding this cloud computing architecture across a multi-institution environment will also be discussed.
