Why Use a Discussion Forum?

1. Allows student-to-student engagement
2. Gives students who are uncomfortable speaking up in class a place to ask questions
3. Gives asynchronous students (with limited internet or difficult time zones) a space for engagement and discussion

How To Use a Discussion Forum

1. Create a forum and share with students:
   1. Create a Piazza class forum: https://piazza.com/mit
   2. Stellar has discussion forums (if made visible, follow steps in link)
   3. Slack: [MIT is obtaining a site license currently]
2. Check and engage in forums regularly (daily and definitely before due dates): enlist TAs to help! :)
3. Leave prompts that allow for open ended discussion
