Vera Vertesi

CLE Moore Instructor 2010-2013

Vera Vertesi is a CLE Moore Instructor at MIT. She finished her graduate studies at Eotvos Lorand University (Hungary) and visited ETH (Switzerland), University of Cape Town (South Africa), Columbia University, Georgia Institute of Technology as a visiting student. Since then she spent a year at the Mathematics Sciences Research Institute in Berkeley, and a semester at the Institute of Advanced Study in Princeton as a researcher.

She does research in low dimensional topology, in particular she is interested in Heegaard Floer homology, contact geometry and knot theory. As an undergraduate student she did research in universal algebra.

Vera has been organizing of Math Circles since 1998. Right now she is helping out in the weekly Math Circle in Graham & Parks Alternative Public School.
