Jessica Wan Wins 2024 Elizabeth Lowell Putnam Prize

First-year Jessica Wan was the top-scoring woman in the annual William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition. She finishing in the top 25, which earned her the $1,000 Elizabeth Lowell Putnam Prize.

“I’m very honored to be receiving this prize and excited to continue studying math at MIT alongside so many other Elizabeth Lowell Putnam awardees!” says Jessica.

She is the eighth MIT student to receive this honor since the award was created in 1992. This is the sixth year in a row that an MIT woman has won the prize.

Established in 1992 by the MAA, the Elizabeth Lowell Putnam Prizes is awarded periodically to a woman whose performance on the Competition has been deemed particularly meritorious.

Jessica also won the Math Prize for Girls in 2023, 2022, and 2019, the MP4G’s most successful contestant in its history;
