ABSTRACT 

In the study of partition identities, generating functions make it possible for the theory of partitions to interact with $q$-series. This leads to the discovery of many interesting properties of partitions. On the other hand, some $q$-series identities can be studied and proved by employing partitions.

In this talk, I will discuss $q$-series identities that can be proved using partitions. In particular, in the latter portion of my talk, I will use partitions to give proofs of Ramanujan's $_1 \psi_1$ summation and the $q$-Gauss summation.
