ABSTRACT 

This talk is about combinatorial aspects of the theory of cluster algebras initiated by Sergey Fomin and myself three years ago. We shall discuss a family of piecewise-linear transformations (called mutations) of integer matrices. The classification of matrices with certain finiteness property preserved under mutations turns out to provide a new instance of the famous Cartan-Killing classification.
