Format

The aim of this workshop is to encourage more people to get involved in developing the L-functions and modular forms database. There will be several tutorials and introductory talks, but most of the time will be devoted to collaboration on development projects in small groups.

Projects

Specific projects will be determined by participants, but may include

• L-functions: In motivic weight 1, connect to abelian varieties over finite fields (#4535)
• Classical modular forms: Add Eisenstein series (#73)
• Elliptic curves: add n-congruent curves (#3455)
• Genus 2 curves: add local root numbers (#5584)
• Number fields: add Dedekind zeta functions (#6332)
• Number fields: maximal CM subfields (#4018)
• Number fields: add Hilbert class fields (#3307)
• Number fields: make nicer fundamental units (#3062)
• Number fields: add narrow class groups (#994)
• Lattices: recompute lattice data, revise labels and schema (#2214, #748, #2821)
• Backend: Automate code snippet testing (#5397)

We will be using the LMFDB Zulip server to organize ourselves before and during the workshop. If you are not yet a member, any of the organizers can send you an invitation.

Apply

We hope for a mix of established LMFDB developers and newcomers, and have some funding available for travel and lodging. If you are excited about getting involved in building the LMFDB, please fill out this form by May 15, 2025 (if you are requesting funding) or July 7, 2025 (if you are not). Earlier is better as it helps us reserve appropriate space at MIT!
