I am a Simons postdoctoral researcher, NSERC fellow, and instructor at MIT, working with Prof. David Jerison. I received my Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Toronto in 2019 under the supervision of Prof. Israel Michael Sigal.

I publish under the pen name Ilias Chenn while my legal name is Li Chen.

Current Research Area

  • Wave/Anderson localization using the landscape theory
  • Density functional theory/Poisson-Schrodinger equations
  • Derivation of effective equations of quantum physics
  • Superconductivity: BCS, Bogolubov-de Gennes equations and Ginzburg-Landau equations

Related Interets

  • Machine learning and its application to mathematical physics

Current teaching: 18.02A (access via Canvas)

Before my Ph.D., I completed my M.Sc. at the University of Toronto under Professor Sigal on the topic of Abrikosov lattice solution of Ginzburg-Landau equations. My undergrad M.Math. was obtained at the University of Waterloo.

My current work is generously supported by the Simons Foundation (Simons Collaboration on Localization of Waves) and Natural Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada NSERC) Postdoctoral Fellowship (PDF).

During my PhD thesis, I thank the supported by the NERC Alexander Graham Bell Canada Graduate Scholarships and the Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarship in Science and Technology.
