For those of you coming to the reception only:
There is good train service between Charleville and Paris, and a rental car is unnecessary.
For those also coming to the ceremony:
Paliseul is most easily accessed through Brussels or Luxembourg, but it is strongly suggested to use a car for the trip to Paliseul.
Taxis are okay for very local trips within Charleville, but do NOT take a taxi to and from the airport.
Airports
Brussels and Paris airports have trains stations located at their airports.
The BRU train station Bruxelles-Nat-Airport, is located below the terminal (basement -1). The Belgian Railways SNCB website has promotional ticket fares, e.g., 50% discount on round-trip tickets to the Ardennes.
Example: 2nd class, one-way from BRU to Paliseul, 160km, duration 02h57m, 2 changes, fare 11€.
The Paris airports have shuttles and buses to train stations, between airports, and to the centre. Local public transportation RATP runs direct Roissy, Orly, and Orly-Val buses to and from the airports; bus fares start at 4,80€). Métro, RER B (rail), Tramway, Bus, and Noctilien information can also be found at the RATP User Guide and route finder tool. Fast networks such as Thalys, Eurostar, HST, and TGV are accessed through SNCF at CDG terminal 2.
Example: 2nd class, Paris Est to Charleville-Mezieres, 1 stop, duration 01h54m, fare 25,40€.
Ground transportation
Public transportation and taxis can make your trip more relaxing, especially in the metropolitan areas where finding parking and traffic congestion can be a hassle, however we recommend driving when traveling between villages in the Champagnes-Ardennes.
Charleville-Mézières by autoroute is 1h30 from Brussels or Luxembourg; and 2h from Paris or Lille. Recommended road map books are published by GeoCart and by Michelin; and they can be found at bookstores or fuel stations. Rental car services (as well as hotels and flights) can also be booked through the rail websites.
Trains can be taken from the airports to most cities in Europe. For schedules, Deutsche Bahn has an excellent website. To purchase tickets, the best fares can be found through the Belgian or French railway websites, which often have promotions.
Taxi fares in France are calculated based on a set fee along with the number of kilometers, duration, and time (day 07h-19h or 08h-20h; night 19h-07h or 20h-08h). The Champagne-Ardennes is in the 08 department.
