Mike Hill

A Historical Survery of Algebraic Topology
Abstract:

Since Poincare planted the tiny seed that is the fundamental group, algebraic topology has grown into an enormous, many branched arboreal complex. In this talk, I will briefly touch on many of the interesting historical developments, meandering along some of the branches and exposing some if not all to the richness and diversity of our field.
