Physical Applied Mathematics
Rodolfo Ruben Rosales received the Licenciado degre from the Universidad Nacional de Cordoba in 1973, and the PhD. from Caltech in 1977 - under the direction of Gerald B. Whitham. Following a post- doctoral position at Caltech, he went to U.C. Berkeley as a lecturer, and then to the Courant Institute as a Research Assistant Professor.
He joined the MIT faculty in applied mathematics in 1980. A prior Sloan fellow, Professor Rosales' research interests include fluid dynamics, nonlinear waves, numerical pde and material sciences. He served as Chair of the Applied Mathematics Committee from 2002 to 2006.
