Math grad student Kyle McKee organized this year’s MIT Math IAP Music Recital at Killian Hall. Others performing were Math PhD’25 Davis Evans, bioengineering doctoral candidate Ellen Kan, and mechanical engineering major Jonathan Bessette.
On the Killian Hall’s 9-foot Steinway concert grand piano, Davis played “Prelude” and “Minuet” from Suite Bergamasque by Debussy, and on whistle, joined event organizer Kyle on guitar for two traditional tunes, “Toss the Feathers” and “The Otter’s Holt.”
Kyle also performed “Trapeze Swinger” by Iron and Wine and joined Ellen to play “Hockey Teeth” by Bahamas, “Emmylou” by First Aid Kit, “Come on By” by Ocie Elliott, and “Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac.
Jonathan played guitar and sang “Pink Skies” by Zach Bryan and “Everywhere, Everything” by Noah Kahan.
Our annual music recital invites the MIT math community to perform. Any kind of instrument, style, or combination of singing and instrumentation is welcome. Past years have included Western and Indian classical, jazz, video game music, Latin-American, folk, and pop music, and original compositions.
