Stellarium is an open source planetarium program that provides a nice realistic view of the sky. For telescope observing, something more serious is needed, I like Cartes du Ciel.
I am currently building a Tesla coil (my second one). They're not as hard to build as you might think. I'll try to take some nice photos when it's done.
