Problem Sets: There will be eleven problem sets, due at the beginning of class on the due dates posted under homework. Late homework will be accepted only if it is turned in within one week of the due date. There is no penalty for the first late homework assignment, but scores of all subsequent late papers will be multiplied by 1/2.

Homework Rules: Collaboration on problem sets is encouraged, but read each problem carefully and make an attempt to solve it by yourself. You must write up all homework problems by yourself.

Grading: Problem sets; In-class hour test; Final exam; 30 percent, 30 percent, 40 percent, respectively.

Hour test: One in-class test (50 minutes) on Friday, Oct 25.

Final Exam: during final exam week; time and place to be announced when it is scheduled.
