30.3 Method when Leading Behavior is Known 

Proposition:

When the portion of sj -s that has the slowest decrease with j decreases by a factor c as j increases by 1, the estimate tj:

tj = sj - (c / (1 - c))(sj -1 - sj)

will converge faster to s than sj does.

Proof
