PHYSICAL MATHEMATICS SEMINAR TOPIC: MICRO-ACTIVE CONTROL OF A PLANAR JET SPEAKER: TOM PEACOCK Department of Computer Science University of Colorado, Boulder ABSTRACT: Results are presented of an experimental study of the transition to complex fluid motion in a planar jet under the influence of micro-actuators. A brief review of the relevant fluid dynamics will be given and natural transitions of the experimental jet will be shown to be in good agreement with theoretical predictions. Thereafter, the effects of forcing the jet using an array of microactuators will be described. DATE: TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 15, 2000 TIME: 2:30 PM LOCATION: Building 2, Room 338 Refreshments will be served at 3:30 PM in Building 2, Room 349 Massachusetts Institute of Technology Department of Mathematics Cambridge, MA 02139
