PHYSICAL MATHEMATICS SEMINAR TOPIC: NON-UNIFORM FLOW FROM A POINT SOURCE SPEAKER: DR. VAKHTANG POUTKARADZE Department of Mathematics University of New Mexico ABSTRACT: We consider a two-dimensional source of fluid in an infinite plane. The Navier-Stokes equations in this setting admit exact solutions. There is an infinity of solutions with velocity field being periodic in the angular direction. We derive an exact condition for the existence of these solutions and discuss their stability. The relevance to experiments is discussed.
