How do I open a Microsoft Office file under Linux?

OpenOffice is installed on all Linux Workstations. If you are using pine and use the view attachment feature OpenOffice will automatically open Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents. You can also double-click on your home folder on the desktop and from there double click any Microsoft Office document which will then open them in OpenOffice. To use the command line type "ooffice" and the name of the document.
