Steps for using the scanner:

note: Scanning from Photoshop now works. If you prefer to use that, select

File -> Import -> HP Scan Pro (TWAIN) and go from there.

Scanning a document:

  1. Place document on scanner bed, face down, or feeder tray, face up.

  2. Click icon for HP Image Zone in the Dock.

  3. Click the picture for Scan at the bottom of the application.

  4. HP Scan Pro will launch and give a preview of the scanned image.

  5. You may use the mouse to crop the image to reduce the size of the image produced or to simply get rid of unneeded parts.

  6. Once it is cropped to your satisfaction, click on 'Accept'

  7. The new .tif file will be located in the Documents folder with a random garbled name. You should probably change this once you figure out which file is yours.

Transferring your scanned image:

  1. Click the icon for FuguSFTP in the Dock.

  2. In the field labeled 'Connect to:' enter the Math Dept server you usually use for remote access (lagrange, lebesgue, or laurent).

  3. Also enter your username in the appropriate field.

  4. When prompted for your password, enter it, but make sure not to save it to the keychain. If asked, accept the host key.

  5. On the left side of the program open the Documents folder and locate your image.

  6. You may then click and drag the file over to your home directory on the right side.

When finished:

Please make sure to quit any applications you have been running, just closing the window will not suffice. Either press apple-Q or select 'quit' from the file menu.

Also, please delete any files you no longer need, as the Documents directory is used by everyone who makes use of this Mac.
