COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course will be a basic introduction to differential topology and geometry, with a focus on Morse theory. As requisites, students should have taken an advanced calculus class, and a point set topology class. Topics include: smooth manifolds and the tangent bundle, Sard's theorem, the Poincare-Hopf theorem, the Morse inequalities, Lefschetz hyperplane theorem, homotopy type of loop spaces.
