Grading Each of ten problem sets is worth 25 points, for a total of 250 points. This will be added to points on the hour exams (3 x 100 = 300) and the final exam (250), for a total of 800 possible points (or 11.111... inches). The total score is the main factor in your grade; but in addition, to pass the course, you must make a reasonable effort on at least 7 of the problem sets and pass the final.
Office Hours Professor Vogan – TR 2:00-3:00 and by appointment in room 2-243.
Recitation instructors – see this page.
Tutoring Mon through Thu at 3:00-5:00 and 7:30-9:30 in room 2-102

Announcements:

No extensions on problem sets
As explained in the first class, there will be no extensions on the due dates for problem sets. Really. None. Not for snow, not for rain, not for heat, not for gloom of night, and not for flu. Missing one problem set isn't going to change your semester point total very much. If you want to tell your recitation instructor a reason that one is missing (after you've returned to good health) we can take this into account in assigning course grades.
